I agree with LetsPoddy as well as with others. It shouldn't be a requirement or a sense of fulfillment for everyone by h

Quite a few famous people did the same thing and have no children. Greta Garbo was also one.
I remember looking at the Wikipedia article of a 60 year old male director (unfortunately I don't recall the name) who never married or had kids. I suggested they were infertile to a relative but she said they really don't want to be parents since they could have adopted. -

I know I do. I wish people would stop thinking having children = happiness. It doesn't. As many have said, the world is overpopulated. How about loving a caring for the people who are already here instead producing more that no one will care about!!!!

That was my thesis for my persuasive speech last February. I had to persuade prospective parents to adopt instead of having biological children. I argued that the world is overpopulated, that we're running out of resources, that there are many children who need loving homes, not to mention that adopting a child avoids costly and sometimes risky fertility procedures.

Not sure where you're getting this memory from. I read her biographies and she was actually engaged but left her husband-to-be at the altar. Never showed up.
She indeed slept with many men to the point where she got pregnant and aborted. -

What's "doing your own search" going to prove? I bet there's an article out there making lesbian/gay allegations about so many actors and actresses!
I was gonna let you beep me, but I got my rag, and I know how you hate a mess -

Lillian Gish was another good example of such. Wikipedia offers bios with quite a few women that had never married and never had kids and they were born in the late 1800s or early 1900s. Some still got married but did not have kids

To answer the OP's question: She doesn't want them.
Same reason she hasn't been married since 1981. I can't imagine she hasn't met a nice man since then.
But I still think that's WHY she has lived so long, and lived so healthy. No husband, no kids.

Maybe she didn't want any kids. Judith Light said that the reason she didn't have kids was not because she didn't want them, but because with a career and being a mother she couldn't do both. Maybe Betty White felt the same way

She has said multiple times that she was always devoted to her career and didn't think she'd make a good mother because of it, she is extremely close to her step-children to this day. And is very involved in their lives, just never had any children of her own.
