Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Judy Blume: Happy birthday Judy Blume!
Hermit C-2 — 20 years ago(January 10, 2006 02:33 AM)
We usually reserve these birthday greetings for our favorite women (Rod can appreciate that!) but we're making one of our exceptions today for Mr. Stewart. We've loved his singing, his artistry, and his great recordings for decades now. We first became aware of him (and became fans) way back when he was with the Jeff Beck Group! And we bought
The Rod Stewart Album
when it was a new release! Since then he's entertained us so much and has been responsible for so much good music and so many good times that we're willing to understand if every record hasn't impressed us like
Every Picture Tells a Story
! You're an original, Rod the Mod! Continued good luck and success! -

Damn, what a shame if true. RIP Hermit
One thing you can say about Hermit is that he didn't seem one of these losers you see on virtually every board who just start flamewars with other posters or leave dickish messages. He kept his comments positive and upbeat; he seemed a fairly decent person to me. -

The link seems to be gone. Can you tell me what it said? Is that guy really dead? -

Here's the message as arhived on ACT1's site:
Mar 27 2006 - IAmFromZ - Hermit C-2 passes away.
We all know him, the guy who wishes all actresses and actors a happy birtday.
People who interacted with him trough IMDB might wonder where he is.
Reliable sources gave me the unfortunate news that Hermit suffered a stroke and passed away.

Re: Happy birthday Rod Stewart!
by - Hermit_C-1 on Sun Nov 2 2008 12:09:59 Yes he is dead but i have decided to replace him, there is always room for another Hermit on these boards.
You're doing a lousy job replacing him. You haven't done ONE birthday wish post since registering!!!

So odd that it's been so long ago I brought this post up about Hermit C-2.

It's been one year since Hermit_C-2 made his final post for IMDb, in this thread. May he be finding in the next world some of the pleasure he brought to us in this one with his posts. Oh, and Happy Birthday to Rod the Mod.

I always wondered what the deal was with this guy. I run into his posts from time to time. The weird thing is, they're usually in abandoned forums for no-name actors. I just stumbled upon Ellen Travolta and lo and behold, he had a birthday message for her. I never took time to research and see what the story was with him, but now that I know, it's kind of eerie stumbling across his random birthday messages from time to time. But I suppose eventually older messages will continue to be deleted and most of his will disappear from the boards, which is also sad.

Yes, it's really eerie and quite sad seeing his messages, but I consider it a tribute to his legacy that they are still there, at least for now. His account hasn't even been deleted; I assume that once that happens, all the posts will be gone too. I didn't realize until a few months ago that he had passed, when someone asked about him in the "I Need to Know" board.
I tend to gravitate to the more obscure names rather than the big stars, and for many of them Hermit_C-2 would have a birthday post. He clearly had a passion for entertainers of all stripes, and whatever else he was dealing with in his life, it appeared that wishing them a happy birthday was a major part of it.
