    From Rasterax:
People here have the weirdest complaints about the show and no ability to back them up.

Sitcoms very seldom go for such big developments; such as killing a key character off, when the dynamic of the show is working so well. The contrast of crabby, simple-tastes Dad with haughty, elitist sons provided a lot of chuckles.

Really? And waht would the show be about then? A middle aged man doing his job and hanging out with his brother.

I'm sure they could come up with subplots better than the one in "Love Bites Dog" about Marty looking for a new pair of a shoes and talking about his toes.

              Martin was great!
He kept Frasier's big ego in line and also gave him a greeat does of life's reality when he needed it too.
He could still punish his sons & take them to task for behaving like over-grown spoiled children. (Who spoiled themselves oddly enough).
The show at the start was about Frasier mending fences with im and like MArtin said "That takes years, not a few days". Martin could also be hilarious, especially when Fraier has tried to be so "smaet" but only embarasses himself.
Martin : "You thought a monkey was the killer?"
Or how about telling Frasier to as for the Fine Arts dept. of the local police, when Frasier gets cheated in an art deal?
Martin had almost totally mellowed by the final 3 seasons. I was glad to see him land Ronee (Wendy Malick of "Just Shoot Me") and get a new wife.

Very possibly my favourite Martin moment.

You sound like a stupid 5-year-old more and more with each stupid response while you've deluded yourself into thinking that you said something clever, you imbecile.

Hi, LaneMarie! Don't get here as much as I used to. Working now several hours a day (mostly on my feet). Don't like job but needed to supplement SS payment since got laid off couple of year ago (age discrimination of course) Dont have computer in my apt. have to go to location in building where they have wi-fi Sometimes just need to relax and watch TV before going to bed as I have to get up at 4! Just don't have energy to check computer. OK, I DON'T agree. As much as I disliked the old coot, I think he did serve a purpose and some of his storylines were funny (Sherry for example). Hope things going well for you and all IMDB'ers on this board.

A scene even better than telling Frasier about the Fine Arts Dept.
of the police,is the show that uses "Antiques Roadshow",when Marty gets the Russian bear-clock appraised.
Making Frasier & Niles to think they might be descended from (Pre-USSR)Russian Royalty.
Martin : "I guess you would've found out anyway after I died..we're royalty."
."But I didn't want you to grow up spoiled so I abdicated and took a job in seattle on the police force."

Martin was my favourite character.Frasier and Niles were hilarious, especially Niles, but I hate snobs like them, and I wouldn't have been able to watch it without the dad's contrasting personality to his son's pretentious attitudes.
I couldn't imagine the show without John Mahoney.

On "Cheers" Frasier had a dog named Pavlov. And he seemed to care about him a great deal.
