Tbh, I thing Geller Green flows better than Green Gellar.
At least Rachel did the decent thing and included Ross' name.
Unlike that b***h of an ex wife of his and her selfish wife, who wanted to shove Ross and his name right out of the picture! -

I don't get your complaint either. Father's name last sounds like he's even less involved. Father's name first is how it goes. Same if you're a woman and you hyphenate, your husband's name goes first.

It was pretty common at the time, but Ross leaned more told old fashioned then unusual, and Emma is an old fashioned name.
Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

I think Rachel only wanted Emma because it was Monica's "chosen" name for her own child. She was quite happy to steal it. If Monica said any other name, she would've picked that too.
They should've stuck with the name Isabella, it's pretty! -

I know that some people really don't like Rachel, but what evidence is there to suggest that she is that petty and mean spirited towards Monica? I know that she once "stole her thunder", but to purposefully use a name Monica wanted, for the purpose of stealing it, I'm just not getting that. -

Tbh, I do like Rachel. I just found it a bit too convenient that she all of a sudden fell in love with the name. Why that name?
Monica should've made up another name on the spot, one that she detests, lol, then keep "Emma" for herself.
Don't get me wrong, I think Rachel's a good person and she loves her friends and family.
But there would be moments where she showed her spoilt, selfish side and the others would sometimes give in to her, be self-sacrificing.
Going back to the name thing, Monica clearly loved the name "Emma", having chosen it when she was little. But because she's a decent person and loves her bestfriend, she willlingly gave it to her.
I'm not sure Rachel would do the same, if it were the other way around.
I also think if Rachel were a good friend, she wouldn't so happily take a name that clearly meant so much to Monica.
She should've used her imagination to name her own child. -

No you're totally right. What kind of person would take her best friend's baby name? That always made me mad. Monica was not offering the name to her, and out of all the names in the world, Rachel just had to have that one then even though it was MONICA'S and she was clearly saddened by it. There's no excuse for that and I highly doubt she would have done the same for Mon. Like you indicated, why wouldn't you want to use your own brain anyway and come up with your own name for your own child? Plus "Emma" is boring as anything.

Thanks, i appreciate your comment.
Actually, something similar happened in my family.
In 1980, two of my Aunties were expecting a child at the same time, both boys.
One Aunty announced she'd chosen a boy's name that she loved - "Darren" and that would be his name. My other Aunty, fully aware of this information, got in there first and named her son "Darren". He was born two months before my other cousin.
Talk about petty. -

Yeah, well I'm still a bit baffled as to why Ross gets let off the hook about this subject, even though he is just as responsible for stealing the name Emma as Rachel is, he could have named the child anything else, it shouldn't have all fallen back to Rachel, also when Monica was just trying to be supportive to Rachel and say it'll be okay, she [Rachel] will find a name, Ross insulted her, saying, ["Yeah, easy for you, you already know what your kid's names will be"] jeeze, Ross she was just trying to help! Ross should get more blame for this! Chandler's quick quip about their future kids being named after snacks and baked goods wasn't much better, and Monica even told her to take it! Rachel said that she couldn't because Monica really loved the name, and Monica said she loved the name, but she loved Rachel more. Monica really didn't seem to mind, she said' "It's okay you can have it"

If you think Monica didn't mind, you have no emotional perception
But really, did Ross even have a choice in the name, or was this just "Rachel's baby" and she got to name her, give her her last name, etc.?
