I believe they already did that about 9 years ago. I'm not aware of any current re-attempt.
The Mist
, a television series based on the novella, premiered on Spike on June 22, 2017.[9] The series features cast members Morgan Spector, Alyssa Sutherland, Gus Birney, Danica Curcic and Frances Conroy.[9] Spike cancelled the series on September 27, 2017, after just one season.

There is. Mike Flanagan is making it:

I really like Mike Flanagan, but I'm not enthused about this or his announced Carrie series. Both were done perfectly the first time. Plenty of King novels to choose from that weren't or that have never been adapted at all.

See what you think and give us an update!
You guys know I like my cheesy flicks, but sometimes, I do have to sit back and laugh when, over time, watching them again, I realize how hammy some of it can be!

Looks like two different kinds of cheese are being used.
You know what sounds nice? A cheese and onion toastie, with two different kinds of cheese, thinly sliced onions, and a bowl of creamy tomato soup.

Fun fact: Stephen King was so disturbed by the changed ending of The Mist (the original just had them driving off into the mist in search of help), he forbid anyone from changing it.

Okay, finished my re-watch. It was good. And the scary thing wasn't so much the creepy monsters attacking the people holed up in the supermarket, it was the divisiveness and polarization of the people trapped therein. There were parts that called for a Rodney King "Can't we all just get along?" speech, lol. The ending is still pretty moving.

Have you noticed that in many "horror flicks", the "monsters" are sometimes the least scary things of all? People, when they're in a collective, become a mob. There are people trying to solve problems, and people who just think everything is a joke or want to cause chaos. Heck, we face that in life as well! People gonna peeps!

Absolutely. There were even some lines of dialogue in the film that addressed those issues.
Par exemple
:
Ollie
: As a species we're fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion? -

I still come back to Men in Black when Agent K says, "A
person
is smart.
People
are stupid". (Or something to that affect). Individuals may react one way, but once mob mentality sets in, there's no logic or critical thinking.
