I'd say Dead Man's chest! This movie made me love these films and as a result I bought the whole collection last year (plus the lego video game for PS3 :p)! But many people have different opinions! What is yours?

I liked Dead Man's Chest tooDavy Jones was a fantastic villain, there were great set pieces, and the Kraken was pretty scary. And the last 30 seconds was an incredible surprise!
Granted, the thing ran long and was a little bit all over the place. But I liked the "romantic triangle" it set up, and Elizabeth's guilt about betraying Jack, and meeting Bootstrap Billand again, the return of you-know-who in the last few seconds. It promised so much great stuff for the third film
whether the third film delivered on any of those promises is another matterXD
but yeah, Dead Man's Chest was great! -

Agreed. The 2nd movie was the best.
It seemed like Pirates was gonna be the new Star Wars. 1st one was great fun. The 2nd gets darker and more interesting "big picture." Loved Davy Jones, loved the Krakken, loved the "love triangle" they set up towards the end, loved the 'rescue my father' quest for Will, and the way they took straight-laced Norrington and completely flipped him into a drunken, angry anti-hero was freakin' brilliant. And then finally, the return of Barbossa.
The problem was that the third film completely 100% whiffed on the payoff for all this great setup. It got bogged down with introducing a bunch more crap like Chow Yun Fat, multiple Johnny Depps, dead Krakken, straight-laced Norrington again, Pirate Council and Keith Richards, blah, blah ,blah, and then some useless love stuff between Davy Jones and the witch chick. Plus it went on too long too. -

i completely agree with youmy favourite is also "at worlds end"i think thats the movie that brought a serious version to this movie compared to 1 and 2 which are both jolly fun ridesplus its scipt is the most unpredictable which is the one suited for pirate movies, whoever understood the movie will agree with me

Definitely the first!
I just really didn't like the sequals. Not that they're badly made. But the storyline just didn't appeal to me like the first one did.
So i'm pretending it begins and ends with Curse of the Black Pearl..

Can't really say, what with not having seen the first three in years, but at the time of watching them I thought something along these lines.
Curse: Good.
Chest. Good.
End: Slow and weird.
Tides: Alright. -

i'd have to go with 3. i honestly think geoffrey rush outshone everyone else in the movie. the lack of him in dead man's chest is probably why it's my least favorite of the four, even though it is still quite good.

I like them all equally.

Curse of the Black Pearl, to me, came together better than the rest of the films in the series did. I also wasn't a huge fan of the side characters in any of them. I could just barely tolerate Will and Elizabeth, both being hit or miss (more miss than hit too).
