i don't really think we have any sort of responsibility towards you.
fixing your economy, educating your people,
you know we also have nukes at our disposal, those would surely get things done very quickly, im not saying we should use them.. -

Sigh western world will benefit both economically and socially by getting the countries in Africa out of their miserable state.
I don't care if the western world has any moral obligation to Africa, but helping them develop stable societies will prevent their crap spilling over to us (drugs, refugees and corruption).
I'm not talking about donations, as most of their government are more corrupt than a conservative tea party, but by increasing the basic education and women's right. Increased education means that they can do more advanced jobs, which leads to a more technological advanced industry. An increased middle class will consume more international products. Better conditions for women's rights will also mean fewer children, as they don't have to worry about a 20-30% child mortality.
A stable society (no wars) will have a more efficient spending of the countries resources. Otherwise it's just one local warlord after another, sucking the country dry. -

Isn't it very difficult to remove warlords ?
you would need something like armed intervention for that, and probably a puppet government, not just some education. Because you would need to build up good police forces and security.
(Since they are corrupt, it won't just work with asking them to do it properly)
I dont think you really have any idea about what you're talking about, but i can tell you that this situation can't be fixed with normal policies.
And you want to do good in africa, but of course you don't care about the future of you own continents and your own people.
you think it's all great in here and it will be forever.. -

Yes, I agree. It is very difficult to remove a warlord. His henchmen would just take over the role. Look at Somalia!
I didn't say I had the solution, if it was that simple - then Africa wouldn't be in such a bad state.
Who would want to pay for the armed intervention and puppet government? We can see how much Afghanistan and Irak is costing the USA. And that's with the oil reserves as incentive!
It takes slow and gradual changes to those countries, one suggestion is change the idea of "tribal" culture. It would prevent more genocides like the Tutsi vs Hutsi (look Hotel Rwanda). Most of the "soldiers" joining these rebel factions do it out of- Poverty
- Religion
- Getting revenge for previous atrocities.
Get them fast food like KFC and cable TV, and you'll see that in 2 generations, no one will want to stage a revolt
Yes, I'm no expert in International Relations. Only been to Ghana and Ethiopia twice as health care worker (upgrading hospital healthcare) and my views are based on those short trips.

For everyone saying that this was a true story; it was BASED on a true story, as it always is.
When they say based on a true story, they can take fragments from the real story and implement them with completely new ideas and plot lines to make a completely different story.
There was a man who got saved and went to africa to help kids. Oh wait, lets give add guns and violence and blood too while we're at it. -

And the moral of the story? White people are free to kill all the black people they want, from Africa to Georgia (cough Troy Davis cough). Now,
WHO
said Social Darwinism wasn't cool!

Your comment makes no sense. The only people he killed were the pricks killing the villagers (including the kids) because they were/are hell-bent on power, control and blood-lust. His defense of the defenseless (yes even with a gun) is just a fraction of the story. The fact that anyone risked their lives to help those kids is commendable. You know who else thinks he's a good man THE VILLAGERS, THE KIDS, and MOST OF AFRICA. The real Machine Gun Preacher is still helping people today! So you're saying because he was white that he should have let the militants kill him, the villagers, and the kids so he wouldn't offend you? This, despite the fact that the non-militant African people like him.
And How dare you compare this to Troy Davis (despite the fact that Troy Davis shot someone else in the face that night). You are CLEARLY full of hate and prejudice I feel sorry for you. Like the MGP, you need a spiritual awakening. You clearly do not understand or accept that there is evil in the world to deny this is a twisted and sick worldview. Worse yet, to deny (and demonize) those protecting and helping those that are being victimized and threated with death everyday is sick. If someone broke into your (or one of your relatives houses) and threatened you/them with a gun or knife, I guess in your view, the criminal should slaughter you/them even if you/they had a gun to defend themselves.
Or perhaps they could shoot if it was a white guy, but not anyone else because that would be "snitching" in addition to murder right?

so you rather he didnt go to africa and help out starving orphans?
How predictable: you left out the "killing Africans with machine guns in the name of Christianity" part. Nice attempt to sidestep the real issue.

And you kind of left out the killing Africans who mutlate, rape, disfigure, torture, frighten, turn child against child or force them to kill their parents part. Just sayin'.
And yet I didn't leave out the fact that these Africans you speak of are being killed
supposedly in the name of Christianity
, which is just stupid, so LOL ALL OVER YO FACE.
