BURLEARTH Thank you so much for clearing up that issue for the idiots on here, you should repost on the Dredd 3D page. It's something that happens in Hollywood with alarmingly more frequent regularity: Friends with Benefits/No strings Attached to name a recent unsubtle "let's see who can release first" duo.

Dredd is a great action movie.
The raid however is completly illogical and boring, Cops that let scouts run away so they alarm the entire building. Noone using any guns but instead fight with their fists.
And you have no real clue why they would go into the building in the first place, noone seem to have any plan and noone ask who they should aprehend, completly stupid.
I gave Dredd 8/10, The Raid got 4/10 -

From what I can recall it was a child, they could have shot him but that's seriously unethical and when they tried to catch him he was too quick.
Worth noting as well that shooting him was an entirely pointless waste of a life, given the revelations right at the end of the film. -

I side with Dredd as the better movie. I feel that The Raid is good at getting that adrenalin going, but the story works better for Dredd in terms of internal consistency. The Raid just has too many moments where I was taken out of the movie because of strange character choices and too neatly choreographed martial arts.

@WanaxOdysseus,
well yeah?? It's a martial arts movie for one thing and also, I'm sick and tired of people comparing this movie to Dredd!!!!! You might as well compare it to Asian Slut Cum Guzzler 4!!!!! -

I measure how good a movie is by how damp my armpits get whilst watching it.
I use a high-performance 48H anti-perspirant, so if I sweat, whilst just sitting down and watching a movie, then it must be filled with that much excitement and enjoyment as to produce such a bodily reaction.
And, boy, did the pits get damp with this movie!
The Raid 10/10.
Dredd - slightly less since the tension needed to be ramped up. 8/10.
Other movies that also passed the armpit test:
Kick-Ass
Slumdog Millionaire
Apocalypto
Kung Fu Hustle
Shoalin Soccer

Hahahaha!
That's the most ridiculous test I've ever heard, but if it works, then it works! It wasn't by chance the L'Oreal 48H anti-perspirant? I've used that personally and I'm not sure if it is as effective as it says, but still, great test!
Kung Fu Hustle and Shoalin Soccer are fantastic, as is Kick-Ass (although I'm not holding any hopes for the sequel), Slumdog was good but I've only seen it once and haven't felt the need to see it again, and I haven't seen Apocalypto.
Watched Dredd last night, watching The Raid for a second time tonight, and whilst I thought Dredd was good I do love The Raid. I think Dredd has a better story though, second time watching The Raid I thought the handling of civilians by the cops was a bit naff, like too cliche, but who watches this film for that stuff eh?
The action is incredible, and plus there were some really tasty shots, like through the window handheld after a cop gets sniped and then through the hole in the floor after the main character goes down, really nice stuff. I kinda wish they had some really hardcore gear to make the shots smoother but Hollywood guys with that sh!t available don't seem to think outside the box a lot of the time.
I might try out this armpit test, even if just for lols. Great post!
