I went over to his house where he did a small electronics repair for something of mine.
Then he showed me his ham radio set up and even demonstrated by talking to a couple of other people on it from many miles away in other states.
It was really cool!
Good to see an old school way of communicating is still around.

That's cool. Which reminds me, I once met a guy who was into pirate radio. He showed me his pirate radio set up and even demonstrated by talking to a couple of other pirates on it from many miles away in other states. They said "Arrrh, maties!" repeatedly.

Yeah, but this will still be around if the 'net or cells go down and it's vocal.
One of the cool things was hearing them talk in code.
It's a hobby left over from before the 'net.
