That's cool. Which reminds me, I once met a guy who was into pirate radio. He showed me his pirate radio set up and even demonstrated by talking to a couple of other pirates on it from many miles away in other states. They said "Arrrh, maties!" repeatedly.
It was really cool! -

Yes! Beautiful sunshine
My poor sis was at the one where it was so cold 🥶

Yeah, but this will still be around if the 'net or cells go down and it's vocal.
One of the cool things was hearing them talk in code.
It's a hobby left over from before the 'net.
Watch the movie One Battle After Another to see how efficient this communication is.

My dad had a ham radio. Decades ago, it was almost exclusively a bunch of old guy’s from the WW2 generation. There was the occasional young person. But it was rare.
We also had a CB, back when CB was very popular. Tons of young people used the CB radios. But the standards for CB were very low, and you could get away with a lot (Kinda like filmboards). But ham radio had far stricter regulations, and if you screwed around on the ham bands, it would get the FCC on your tail, and the fines were harsh.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why people seem bright, until you hear them.
