Knives are much less deadly than a gun and they also have a purpose other than murder. If this is the best you can do for an argument then you got nothing.
When government disarms the people government becomes increasingly tyrannical
You mean Australia? New Zealand? Japan? England? You're more likely to get shot by some retard psycho than you are to have the government come and kill you, which has exactly a 0% chance of ever happening, just for the record. Guns pose an astronomically greater threat to your life than the government does and if you had any intelligence that's what you would be concerned with.

Yes, those are all countries where you can easily be thrown in prison for insulting politicians or expressing the wrong opinions. They are all countries with draconian internet censorship and Orwellian mass surveillance as well.
You are really not helping your case here. -

I don't know where you get your info but NZ is the most laid back country you could ever imagine. Politicians are insulted on a regular basis (one even had a dildo thrown at him) with no come back except a lot of laughs. The regular police force here don't carry guns, just the Armed Offenders Squad who deal with the very few illegally armed citizens. Nobody has a gun except licenced hunters and the odd illegal gang member. You can express your opinions loud and clear without being afraid and there's no internet censorship.

Nothing there looks like the product of a tyrannical government. They have laws and regulations regarding content they consider indecent, but every country has those, including the United States.

The United States doesn't ban books (or movies or video games), prosecute "hate speech", or imprison people for looking at gore on the internet. New Zealand does. -

The United States does ban books, movies, and video games. If they possess content that is illegal under United States laws then they won't be allowed to be published or sold in the United States. That's censorship. New Zealand may have stricter rules regarding what is considered acceptable, but every country has their own standards. Your personal views on what is considered acceptable doesn't get to dictate what people in other countries find acceptable.

Yes, the US bans CSAM. That's it. The US doesn't ban anything for being merely offensive. Meanwhile, in New Zealand:

Again, that's their choice. They get to decide what is acceptable within their own country. People have different opinions on what is acceptable.
Of those books at that link, most were banned in the first half of last century, and I'm sure you'd find many books were also banned in the United States during those same period. Looking at the more recent book bans in that list, they are mostly dealing with sexualizing children, which I believe is also banned in the United States.

Yes, and they've decided that they want draconian government censorship of speech and the media. That was exactly my original point, genius.
None of those books are banned in the US, by the way. -

Yes, the people decided they wanted it, and no, that wasn't your point. You were expressing agreement with the idea that banning guns leads to tyrannical governments, but if you are now agreeing that it's the people in these countries who are deciding what is acceptable, then that is the opposite of tyranny. That's democracy.

China also has "different standards" for speech. That doesn't mean that it isn't tyrannical. If your government can ban books and throw people in prisons for expressing the wrong opinions, then you do not have freedom of speech. And no, these things were never voted on.

China isn't a democracy.
They claim that they are. They just have different standards for democracy. That's how it works, isn't it?
Also, why don't you use your main account instead of hiding behind a slashdot, Warren? -

No. That's not how it works. Look up what a democracy is.

I do not doubt they have "different standards" but what constitutes democracy is universal.

Okay, what about Turkey then? They have democratic elections. They also throw you in prison if you criticize their government. Different standards, right? -

Turkey is a electoral autocracy not a democracy.
