Clean water is pulled from the pipe (the bidet is typically plugged into the pipe in the wall with a T-valve that the tank AND bidet connect to in two different spots) and splashes on your ass via a tube. It doesn't get recycled from the bowl. You still need to wash your ass in the shower but it's definitely cleaner than using dry paper. It can have an enema effect too, fun lil bonus
It doesn't really take more time than wiping either. Genuinely have no idea what you're picturing -
