Id consider myself a realist, alright? But in philosophical terms Im whats called a pessimist. I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self, that accretion of sensory experience and feelings, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody, when in fact everbodys nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is to deny our programming. Stop reproducing. Walk hand in hand into extinction. One last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal.

We are creatures that should not exist by natural law.
"Should" and "law" are both myths. What exists exists. If something has a problem with it that's
their
problem.
I think the honorable thing for our species to do is to deny our programming.
I would like to ask who said that what honor has to do with it.

We are creatures that should not exist by natural law.
Putting aside the word choices Matt, this statement simply means that human behavior does not conform to the prevailing patterns of other biological life on planet Earth.
What exists exists. If something has a problem with it that's their problem.
And so it is, you aren't really saying anything new or relevant here. Just because it's 'his problem' doesn't mean he is or is not allowed to articulate it.
Myth or not, our self awareness grants constructs like should and law meaning and validity.
I would like to ask who said that what honor has to do with it.
The honorability the author grants to our mutual agreement to collectively self terminate is a personal judgment. Much like an opinion, it is valid with or without a defense.

I understood that but I meant that that does not mean we're somehow cosmically disqualified for existence.

I meant "natural law", not the author.

Fictions can have meaning. Validity is an issue of relevance.

I can't say I grasp that but you might tell my view of things is kind of straightforward? Or linear?

just as your post, is pointless and meaningless. it's just as meaningless as your desire to never be born. your offense to religion is pointless and meaningless. there is no importance to this point nor any of your desires that we think the way you do. none of it is important. and yet you behave as if what you're saying IS important. you're an idiot.

Nothing is meaningless.
there is no importance to this point
Because "importance" is a myth.
none of it is important. and yet you behave as if what you're saying IS important.
It isn't. Because "importance" is a myth.

Comic strip, not cartoon.
And yes, H.P. Lovecraft has that "alone and small in the vastness of space" vibe.

In the UK, a lot of people use the term cartoon to describe comics strips, especially in newspapers, as well as for animation, and for for single panel images, eg political satire. I know you like your semantics, have you read any Chomsky or Korzybski?
A related thing you may be interested in is E-Prime, if you want to go deeper into linguistics:

Oh, then sorry, I didn't know that.

No, but I'm taking their names down now. Thank you.

This is not actually true. Cartoon in the UK means animated film. No one would ever understand it to mean a
cartoon strip
unless you called it a
cartoon strip
, which is only ever used to refer to the short
cartoon strips
that you get in newspapers, like Garfield or Doonsberry.
So you were right and bozo is an idiot. -

The Cartoon Museum is a London museum for British cartoons, caricatures, comic strips and animation
I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
There is no difference between the use in American or British English. The modern usage is understood to mean an animation. That is exactly as true whether you are British or American.

I know that whatever I say, you will find some way to refute it.
I have followed your tirades on many of the message boards that you have invaded. I have read what you have posted as replies to others, and I have noticed that you have contradicted yourself many times just to "win" your point.
You answered me on the boards that you have been suicidal since 1997. I don't believe you are, but I feel sorry for you. You must be very lonely, and scared of people.
Someone else posted on here that maybe it is a good thing that the message boards are vanishing on February 20th. You will have to go out and face people. -

Then it wouldn't be difficult for you to quote where I do so, wouldn't it?

Scared of people, yes. Lonely, no.

I don't "have to" anything.
