Hopefully it's just how he sees himself at that moment, but usually a face he puts on while playing head torturer in hell.
I could see them using this as the explanation.

No, I think it's not his "true" face in the meaning of "original" face.
It's the face he has as being the devil / showing his "nastier side".
(Btw, it's not the 1st time that comments from a network on their own show are not 100 percent correct.)
I've also read the comics and love them but I really do not expect that anything else of that canon must be fundamental for the show, the writers simply can use something of or get some ideas from it. So now they've brought Maze's "original" face, and I totally loved that they did it. But I'm absolutely ok with all the changes they made from the comics, may it be "who was born 1st", "Mother of all creation" or Lucifer's "true face". Because it works for the storylines of the show and there are no bigger inconsistencies within, imo. -

What is it inconsistent from? The entire show is "inspired " from the comic characters and Tom Ellis looks nothing like David Bowie and doesn't have even half of the comic characters powers and a different personality or only bits of it.
I wasn't surprised about his "true face" he talked about it all last season. We also had glimpses of it. Not all fans read the tweets or the articles.

It doesn't matter if you don't read what the showrunners and writers say. That's relevant to their story construction, and if they're contradicting themselves, it's a problem with future continuity.
It makes no sense, based on the information we've received so far, that Lucifer would have been born that way and there's been no evidence that God would do that to his favorite son. Even if he had, that would be his "new form" not his "true form".
The showrunner's own statement is that the angels are in their original forms. Lucifer can't have two "true" or original forms. It seemed pretty clear that they were making a point early on that the red devil with tail and horns from folklore was the result of an overly imaginative public. And now they're telling us that this is his "true" form, which would mean the form he was born with. There's no friggin' way that the Light Bringer, most beautiful of the angels and God's favorite son, would be any of that if this were his true form.
All I'm asking is that they get a little more careful with the words they choose and pay attention to their continuity. I'm beginning to think they don't have a continuity director and that they really need one.
I'm going to believe that this is an aspect of himself that Lucifer materializes to scare people and that he may see it as being a reflection of his "true self" because of his personal self-loathing, but I don't believe it's really who he is.

If,I and other fans haven't read it and don't know about it,then we don't know they have contradicted themselves do we. Not saying others haven't read the same info as you.
I disagree that he doesn't have two "true forms" he is both and Angel and a Demon. They are both very much a part of who he is. Personally,I think his demon self quite handsome.

He's not a demon. He's still a fallen angel. No one on the show has ever said he's a demon. Maze is a demon.
And I'm not talking about twitter or cast members or writers. I'm talking about what the show has said itself.
Lucifer is the most beautiful and favorite of all of God's angels. He is "The Light Bringer". The "Morning Star". He was not born as a red terrifying looking devil. That came much later, according to the show. That much is very clear. So it can't be his "true" form. It can be an aspect, or a side that was developed, but it wasn't who he was born as. And that's a person's true form.
Just like a prince turned into a frog, his true form is not the frog.

This is far more important to you then me. Sorry, should have said "demonic" rather than demon. I don't agree that he "fell" either and I didn't say he was born demonic. I also don't know and don't care what the showrunners have said. I watch a show I enjoy and interpret it the way I want and you are free to do the same.

Well, I think you disagreed with me and I was just defending my position.
I'm not asking everyone to agree with me or believe what I believe. I'm just pointing out things I'm concerned about. You know this is my all-time favorite show. But I'm not going to pretend when something doesn't give me pause. And I know there are others who feel this way as well.
I don't have problems with almost all of the show's changes, and I've more than explained my reasons for having concerns about what I see as a lack of continuity. I truly hope they hire a continuity director soon. They've got a lot of writers and the showrunners have a ton of responsibilities and can't be expected to stay on top of everything. That's why shows that have a complex history and mythological canon to maintain usually have continuity directors. Sometimes it's just an additional duty of one of the cast members who's got a great memory for detail and past scripts. That could even be someone like Lesley-Ann from what I've seen. She seems to be pretty on top of everything.

Well we can disagree amicably,I respect your opinion. I agree it's confusing for some fans and they could get the wrong idea. I see Lucifer as 2 different personifications..The Angelic and the Lord of Hell (demonic) and the Lucifer we see (TE)is the one he had in heaven.
Tom/Lucifer is scarier to me then,Lucifer/Demonic,because Tom is so good with expression/emotional scenes.

"Things need to add up and be consistent or fans stress."
Haha Really? Man, if things like that are stressing you out, you should seriously seek help from someone like Dr. Linda. Because that's crazy.
Not to mention that none of them are actually contradictions in the context of the show itself. Because they are never actually said or mentioned IN THE SHOW ITSELF. Stop putting so much credence in the offhand comments that producers or writers say in random interviews and what not. Because a very large percentage of the time they say beep that doesn't end up actually playing into the show, or say beep for the sole purpose of messing with people.
But as I said, if stupid details in a tv show as causing you actual stress, you should deff look into getting some help, because that's not normal. -
centrd — 9 years ago(November 01, 2016 12:38 PM)
Um, clearly you don't watch many shows like this if you don't think fans obsess over these details. It's part of the genre. Just like stats are part of baseball.
Oh, and I'm not making up the inconsistencies. They're right there in the transcripts. I've quoted them many times, straight from the script.
Btw, thanks for the "helpful" advice, but I can take care of myself.

Plenty of episodes simply wouldn't work if Lucifer's true face were beautiful, because who would get scared/shocked then? It's probably a necessary plot device, regardless of the logic and/or Twitter comments.

centrd — 9 years ago(November 01, 2016 01:09 PM)
His "true face" can easily be beautiful. He can assume a scary face whenever he wants. That makes way more sense with everything that's ever been said about him ON the show itself.
I honestly think "true face" is a misnomer and it's not what they really mean. People just keep saying it so much that it's almost become "fact" to the point even the Lucifer PR people are using it. But they're an entirely different department than the show itself. (I think, maybe not)

Same thing happens in other shows though, Flash for example can be so fast that he travels backwards through time, yet often he can't avoid being hit by mere mortals, i.e. depending on plot he can be super fast or pedestrian. Similarly here, Lucifer's true face can be both angelic and demonic, depending what the writers' need for the episode in case, doubt there's any deeper meaning behind that.

I'm guilty of using the term 'true face' to describe it too, but I think in effect both the Lucifer we normally see and the devil one are both true. Like two different sides of the same coin, the angel and the devil. It's possible God, in a way, 'cursed' him with the more hideous visage when he fell as a reminder/punishment of what happened, or to help Lucifer with the job he was tasked (torturing souls) or a combination of both. Definitely Lucifer is a unique case among angels, as far as we know.
It would be interesting to see the show explore the duel faces more. Since currently this is all just my headcanon. LOL!

Who are the people that are saying that the devil face is Lucifer's real face? I went through Joe Henderson's, Chris Rafferty's, Lucifer Writers Room's, and Lucifer Fox's tweets while the episode was airing, and none of them made any mention of it being Lucifer's real face.
I know that some reviewers and recappers are referring to the devil face as his real face, but they don't have authority on the matter.
I've already posted this many times, but Lucifer's real facethe one he had in heaven is the one that looks like Tom Ellis. The reason I believe this is because of the wing scars.
