Marilyn was a genius

she definitely got depressed by the world and its people, yes. as a product of her time (misogyny of 1950's America) she was treated poorly throughout her life and when she became famous, her public image as a bimbo and sex symbol who was having affairs with JFK and other powerful men, didnt help either and wore her out mentally. she was also on drugs and alcohol and suffered from insmonia so she probably just got tired of it all.

the leading men of Hollywood who paid her salary forced that image on her tho, like they forced pretty much every aspiring actress at that time, but a few actresses survived that and became stars with a long-living career or they refused their bosses' doctrines and never made it in Hollywood, while Marilyn was also mentally ill which led to her untimely death.
after all tho, Marilyn Monroe is now a true Hollywood icon.

i know what you're saying, but you can still see how wrong the system is that bore cases like Marilyn, systems that seek out star potential, birth stars, build them up, glorify them so the consumers, the viewers, the fans, us as the people throw money at their company, and then ultimately destroy them. Marilyn was merely a product and was treated as such, a goods for the people to consume, a merchandise to make lots and lots of money out of. that's Capitalism for you.
i don't blame Marilyn for doing what she was told in a profession she chose to pursue, yes, bc for Marilyn acting was a passion, a lifelong dream. she loved what she was doing and lived for it, so yeah, she did what it takes to be at the top and stay at the top. and last but not least, she did this for a living. it was her job. and she was a hard worker. plain and simple.
it's tragic that fame wasn't doing her good tho and she should have realised that, a lot earlier. i agree that was her fault, but she was also mentally ill and that got exploited by her bosses. so i do not put blame on her, but i put all the blame on the system.

Women in general and women who look like Marilyn especially are never taken seriously. It was worse back then, but it's still an issue today (not to turn this into a political rant, but note how AOC is written off as an airhead by the right-wing media). Hedy Lamarr was another excellent example. I doubt people realize even today how ****ing brilliant she was… as they mindlessly use technology she helped pave the way for.

Britney is a more unfortunate case because everyone including her own family controlled her in every way and her mental decline and instability was the outcome of all that. She seemed completely normal and happy before all that and she gave smart remarks in interviews a lot. She’s a good actress too. It’s just that society never took her seriously because of all the stereotypes put on women who are sexualized and she was sexualized at a young age so ppl had their mind set on her like that for a long time. I see her like Marylin in many ways. She had way more potential than ppl gave her credit for

exactly, and Britney was still a kid when she became a publically known performer and still a teen when she pretty much rose to pop queen status with a song that sexualised teenage girls and ultimately her as the performer. sadly she never could outlive that image, but thank god she's still alive!
not everyone can be like Miley Cyrus who did a complete turn on her image or the Olsen twins who removed themselves entirely from the public once they realised that their mental health was suffering.
i think for stars at such a young age surviving that business it has a lot to do with the people surrounding them and looking out for them, the social safety net, and Britney's people ****ed it up. plain and simple.

Yeah exactly. Supposedly when Britney was on conservatorship she was forced to perform still and make music even though she didn’t want to and they threatened make her lose custody of her kids if she didn’t. This makes me so angry if true. Like most moms in her position would have done the same thing for their kids. Amanda Bynes went through similar stuff but seems to be doing better and more stable now
Paris also is doing ok too despite what she has gone through. She ended up profiting off her dumb blonde image instead which was a very smart move on her part. I would have done the same thing if I was her

lol Paris is amazing! i love her! i haven't been following her these past years but i'm glad she's doing okay. she's got a strong social safety net, i suppose, with her family having her back.
but, yeah she and Nicole Richie together were legends.
btw you're doing great on here yourself.
i know bc i know you better than everyone here who underestimates you big time.
