      No.
      Thank You For Smoking
was a funny but shallow film. Eckhart's delivery was the only thing that saved the film.
      The title character of
      Juno
had a similar style to that of Nick Naylor of
      Thank You For Smoking
, but the supporting characters were much better developed in
      Juno
      .
      In the end,
      Thank You For Smoking
is made meaningless by its dependence on innumerable cliches, while
      Juno
tells a unique and heartfelt story.
Too much is made of Juno the character's style, but the film would have succeeded regardless of that, because it tells a story that real people can respond to. Nobody responds to the story of Nick Naylor; they just laugh at how goofy it is.

i like the messages in both films, i liked that TYFS was more adult in both content and in dialogue,(not like bad language just edgier)
But i think that TY was much funnier, and a better movie.

I don't agree that it was "grossly overappreciated", but I did like this movie better than Juno. Juno's still great though.
Stuff like this reminds me of "Movie Poop Shoot.com" from Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

Both of these movies are pretty good.I think TYFS is probably a little better, sometimes Juno was annoying. Both are good efforts and I think Reitman's best work is all ahead of him.

Agree, mainly because I prefer Reitman's script to Diablo Cody's.

I enjoyed Thank You For Smoking much more than Juno. Juno had a terrible soundtrack, was pretentious, even though funny at times.
I felt Thank You For Smoking was really good.

Anyone here agree that Thank You For Smoking was better than Juno?
i would say it's close either way depends on what mood i am in. i think the idea behind 'Thank You For Smoking' is better than 'Juno' but both films where quite good.
i give 2000both films a 8/10. so i guess it mostly boils down to if you buy into the hype or not. in fact, when i first seen the previews on 'Juno' i thought the film looked stupid so i kept putting off seeing it but i eventually got around to seeing it and it turned out MUCH better than i expected it to be.
p.s. Jason Reitman is 3 for 3 now after i seen his recent film 'Up in the Air' which i also gave a 8/10.
also on a side note i think in a way 'Thank You For Smoking' somewhat feels like a film i consider to be a masterpiece which is 'Lord of War' (2005) as the basic ideas behind it are similar but instead of being about Gun Running it's about Cigarettes etc.
