I never liked the guy up until a few years ago. Good actor, and proved it once again in Wolf of Wall Street. Excellent, excellent performance!

This is how I felt too. Ironically, especially after seeing him on SNL right after seeing him in WoWS, it made me think comedy is not really his calling so much as he ended up in it because that's where chubby actors can get their foot in the door. Now he's pulling away from the Apatow pack and just impressing the hell out of me these days. I don't follow his career closely (interviews etc.) but he was on Graham Norton not long ago and was very charming and fun to watch. When I think back to how repellent I found him in SuperBad, I am all the more amazed at how I see him now.
The Apatow universe is fine for what it is, but I'm glad he is no longer stuck in it. -

He was great, I loved seeing him in a movie like that. To me, throughout the film it looked like he was having an amazing time. Nomination well deserved.

I still haven't seen Moneyball so this was the first time I've actually seen Jonah Hill not in Jonah Hill mode, and I was pretty impressed. He wasn't excellent, but he was pretty good. What I want to know is, did he really only get $60 000 for that movie? I know he's not A-list, but still, it seems like a pretty small number for such a big movie.

He seemed pretty Jonah Hill to me. Good perfomance, but c'mon, nothing to write home about.
As the guy from Honest Trailers said "Jonah Hill proved that he went from being the funny fat guy from Superbad to be the funny fat guy in a Scorsese movie". -

I have to disagree entirely. I believe if his role had been cut entirely from the movie, we would all have benefited, from a shorter runtime, less wasted overacted idiocy and a chance to watch Dicaprio shine better.
