New, not used or bargain bin. Is it true that streaming is killing dvd sales? There is a Matt Damon interview where he is eating chicken wings with a guy and he says cratering dvd sales has limited the kind of movies that Hollywood will make. They focus on tentpole movies that have the potential to make hundreds of millions and make fewer medium budget movies than they used to. Those smaller movies would recoup their costs in dvd sales. The last new dvd I bought was Donnie Darko way back in the day, I think. I've been gifted some but I'm not counting those.

I don't streamline so I can only watch movies on TV or disc.
I don't get them very often, maybe 2-4 times a year, because it has to be a movie good enough that I really like and want.
I put quality over quantity and not one of those with hundreds of them.
I think the last time I got DVDs was last summer.

I don't think bargain bin sales are as useful in recouping costs. At that point the retailer is trying to make space for different dvds and make a little money back. It won't be ordering more of the bargain dvds. If my understanding of the economics is right.
