All of the single moms I know, really don't date (unless their children are already grown up, and it's still hard to do this, let alone find a GOOD and single man somewhere). Focusing on their children and their futures certainly
    should
be priority because there is no guarantee some guy won't come in and cause distress in your home life (I've heard too many stories, some of them can be emotionally time-consuming after first glance is said and done). Honestly while we figure she'll pair off with him down the road, Lucifer has some severe issues, to say the least..
He sleeps with multiple partners, does drugs, drinks, and it's fairly dangerous to be in his world. There is a disadvantage to not knowing when someone from God's lineage is out to kill you, whereas a suspect, you suspect already. Anyway, Lucifer is pretty damaged and seriously emotionally handicapped. Someone turns to sex and drugs when they're seriously avoiding human relationships/attachments. Chloe's got to get up in the mornings, get Trixie working on getting ready for school, get breakfast on the table, make sure her kid has her backpack ready (which they always manage to leave unpacked by the time the bus gets around), get her own coffee, get dressed, attend to homicides, interview leads & suspects, come home, get dinner on the table, check the homework, get Trixie in the bath, get ready for the next day, etc etc
I think the show is sending the right message, Chloe doesn't want to acknowledge a 'bad boy.' Caring for them doesn't necessarily mean it should evolve into a romantic relationship. Chloe's the type to want someone serious anyhow, not a 'booty-call,' which Lucifer seriously is I imagine he'd cause her some pain somehow, he just can't help it. It's his mother's calling card, is what I'm getting. They're fueled by hurt emotions, with no mechanisms to resolve conflict without just destroying others around them. I mean, Amenadiel lost his wingsUriel's gone.. ugh. As a sibling of that family, I wonder if someone's REALLY upset about that one in the form of "I hate you, mother, Lucifer, and how you think the whole universe bows to you." I would be kind of ticked

Thanks for this perspective! Indeed, dating Lucifer might be not only exasperating but also outright dangerous. And he'll hardly be able to make parenting any easier for Chloe.
I think the show is sending the right message, Chloe doesn't want to acknowledge a 'bad boy.'
      So true.
On the other hand, Lucifer has also a lot to deal with and sort out with his family, become self-aware and learn to face his emotions. Dating Chloe and taking care of Trixie might be too much pressure for him. And does Devil actually want to date a mortal human?
So many questions. I wonder what the writers' endgame is. Teaming up two extremely handsome protagonists and tossing obstacles that prevent them from becoming a couple. I guess I'll be happy with any result, just want to know how it's going to work out for Luci and Chloe.

I see it as Chloe is a really smart well-adjusted woman who knows that she has to get divorced, get settled into new living arrangements, and help Trixie go through the transition before she can even contemplate having a relationship with Lucifer, which is bound to bring in all sorts of chaos into her already stressful life. Plus, as much as Lucifer would like to have sex with Chloe, I would imagine that he would not want to be the rebound.

I agree. I don't see Chloe getting together with Lucifer until he gets his act together a bit, matures past the teenager mentality. Of course, he already has in a lot of ways, but not all. The thing Lucifer's really got going for him as an actual relationship candidate is that Trixie loves him, and despite his assertions to the contrary, he cares about Trixie, too. And that's huge for a single mom, and Chloe
          knows
Lucifer deep down, how loyal he is, etc. So once all of the obstacles are removed, and there are many, I think they'd actually be really happy together. Like I've said before, Chloe has turned out to be his only real equal. She's unlike anyone he's ever met. And for Chloe, Lucifer has shown how devoted to her he is so many times, even more than she knows. And they really balance each other; they have a lot to offer one another.

In the Lovecraft mythos seeing a demonic being in their true form causes extreme sanity loss. I realize that they are using a different mythos here with different rules but Linda's reaction was just what I would expect. Pure terror and sanity loss at seeing something not meant for human eyes or comprehension.

He truly wants to be understood and known, and accepted and if Chloe and Linda can't do it, then no one ever will. Or so he thinks.
Maybe Trixie? I mean, she thought Maze's face was cool. She is only 8, so I can imagine what she would think of Lucifer.

I agree. I don't think Trixie will have any problem finding out Lucifer's the devil. She just loves who she loves. 🙂

For some odd reason, I have assumed from Trixie and Lucifer's very first meeting, when he told her his name and she said, "like the devil?" that she just accepted that he was indeed the devil. As an innocent child it was simply no big deal. He was her friend and that was that. Just like Maze.
So if Chloe ever does find out and tells Trixie, I expect Trixie's response to be something like, "yeah, so, what took you so long, Mom?"

Those were my thoughts too. Lucifer's answer was "Precisely!" so why would Trixie question him further? She simply told him her name. He went on to champion her cause with with the other girl and Trixie knew it, cementing their relationship or at least her fondness for him.
I love the way Trixie now just accepts his presence in her life as something normal and expected.

I wonder if it isn't Trixie's unquestioning trust and love for him that starts his swing back from the guilt trip and destructive behaviour. Maybe it is Trixie's acceptance that balances Linda's rejection.

Aww, that would be great. I hope so. Seems like Lucifer's going to be helping Chloe with a really personal case this coming week in "My Little Monkey", involving her dad and maybe that will be the opening for him to be more involved with her family.

I would lOVE for their to be a scene between Lucifer and Trixie where he reveals his face to her and she's like 'Cool, can i touch it'. Hahaha. And he's taken aback by her attitude towards him. Would be very touching. And it would be like their 'little secret'.

This episode was phenomenal. Lucifer's spiral and desperation was played so well. I liked that the first time we saw him truly upset it was treated with the gravitas it deserved. My fave part though was Linda. I liked how when she first goes to Lux and tells him her door is always open and he angrily tells her to shut it, then after the reveal when he leaves her office he deliberately leaves the
door open. It not only obviously framed her frozen shock perfectly, but it was an excellent throwback to her open door comment. I took it as him keeping hope open that she could come to terms with it and he could still come back. I think she's the best person to know the truth. If a reoccurring human character was going to know I'd rather Linda then Chloe, it's less predictable and it makes the "therapy" less pointless and frustrating to watch. Cannot wait for next episode.

Yes, it's kind of an iconic setup, 'the devil has a therapist'. Once Linda gets over her initial shock, it should make for some EXCELLENT sessions. When he finally lets down all of his walls and talks straight with her, as himself, all hell could break loose. lol.

Great observations! Lucifer feeling guilt for the first time and "leaving the door open" for Linda's help is are big steps for him. As his therapist, Linda has the background and relationship with Lucifer to be the best one to help him. I think she'll feel both a personal and professsional obligation to overcome her personal difficulties and do everything she can to help Lucifer work through his issues. It could be a tremendous personal growth process for her as well. And of course we'll all get to sit back and watch the story unfold.

The sneak peek for next week's episode shows Linda avoiding Lucifer and Maze. Which supports my theory that her reaction was similar to Mrs. Warren's reaction in The Conjuring where she needed eight days by herself after seeing the face of hell.

I loved Trixie's reaction to Maze's demon face And then how Maze had that relieved smile. Also the man asking who Trixie was dressed as and her reply @the president of Mars Duh" lol.
Everyone seems to be telling Luci that Uriel's death is not his fault or saying that they don't blame Lucifer. Amenadiel blames himself and their dad, not Luci.
I hope the doc comes out of her shock soon and is still able to counsel him.
The scene where Luci hugged Dan and Dan was like "what the hell?" Was hilarious.
