Pale blue eyes (I'm guessing) did not translate well on grainy, almost over-exposed looking black and white film. That may be why most of the pictures of my much older ancestors look like they have really creepy eyes.

Roscoe's eyes always looked okay to me. And they look great in this candid photo of him (one of my favourites!).

I believe he was blond haired and blue eyed. It didn't always translate well to early film.
Yeah, the film stock didn't pick up color accurately, it was shifted toward red (I think), so the actors had to wear makeup that looked almost like clown makeup to make their faces read natural in the final film image.
Pills are good! PILLS ARE GOOD!
