I loved Karen Gillan, more than any companion so far.
But, we'll'have to give her a chance.

I dont think she'll have a problem following in Karens footsteps.although ive liked having a couple in the TARDIS rather than a love-sick teenager, im starting to grow alittle bored of the Ponds now if im honest. Although no one else on here seems to, I for one will be glad for the change and was extremely pleased when i heard Jenna Louise had been cast. Shes beautiful and talented so should make interesting viewing.

I am more worried that the promo pics for the show I saw, she looks like she is 12. Not sure how i would feel about a young, even minor, companion.

She's 2 years older than Karen.

Karen looked 12 in her promo pix too. And the fandom was worried about that. And she turned out to be a fan favourite. I wouldn't worry! 😄

karen gillian was pretty good but was nothing hugely special, following after shouldnt be a huge problem except for the amount of whingers yet again because of a new companion. ive liked the ponds but yes theyve grown old. Im actually a bit disappointed that it is yet another female companionsigh, please no more romantic connections between the doc and a companion.

I doubt there will be any romantic tension with any companions for a while especially now that the Doctor is married. The reason they keep having female companions is because the fans like eye candy. If they just gave the Doctor a male companion it would make the doctor seem gay if he was living with a man in the TARDIS and going on adventures and stuff. It also adds more opportunities for scripting when there is more variety and incompatibility between the companion and the doctor.

ahh well as long as she's cute thats alright then:)
maybe they could make her an alien though, why does it have to be a human and female all the time

Im just gonna address a few things on the last couple of posts
Theres no reason to worry pal, Moffet already stated that he doesnt want anymore love sick companions in the TARDIS so dont go expecting any Rose/Martha things going on.
As regards her looking 12.she may look young but shes definitely not a minor, theres bigger things to worry about than that. Also as regards her being female, the companion will always be female i would have thought, just so the female audience members have someone to connect to,makes sense really.

My crackbrained theory is that she, as a Dalek, is the new companion and that this is all moving toward some kind of peace agre1354ement between Dalek-kind and the Doctor.
But for the love of Bo, don't quote me on that. It's just a crazy hope. The next episode will most likely prove me completely wrong. I can dream, though, can't I? A Dalek companion would be awesome!
                            Allons-y, Alonzo!

It was just a guest star appearance, the way Nicholas Courtney appeared in Dr Who before being cast as the Brigadier, or Harry Morgan guest-starred on M.A.S.H. before being cast as Col. Potter. It was a tease.
                                And she looked fantastic. 🙂

SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT READ IF YOU STILL NEED TO SEE DOCTOR WHO 2005 SEASON 7 EPISODE 1!
Her role was too big and memorable to just be a random guest star appearance.
When she returns they must establish some kind of relation between her new character (Clara) and the one she played in this episode (Oswin).
Seeing as they have different names and Oswin got blown to bits, I would guess she's either a twin or a clone. Or perhaps Oswin wasn't her real name, seeing as she kept calling the Doctor "Chin" and Rory "Nin2000a" she might not have given them her real name, which would mean Clara could also be the past version of Oswin (chronologically). But I hope not, seeing as then we'd already know the sad demise that's waiting for her character down the road. And then she should have remembered the Doctor (unless she got mindwiped somehow, like Donna).

going back a few posts, not all companions have been human
My all time favorite companion was Nyssa of Traken (4th & 5th Doctors)
although she (and the human who played her, Sarah Sutton)
                                    were most delightfully female!!
I am intrigued that this new companion in her first appearance is like Nyssa in that she is both hot looking and possessed of an intellect and knowledge that can actually help the Doctor.

They actually don't have different names: her characters name is Clara Oswin:
                                        http://doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-series-7-2012-what-we-know-27371.htm
The Doctors probably does some Timey Whimey thing to change her fate..

Last time I checked, the name Clara has not actually been confirmed by the produces, writers, actors, or any BBC affiliate.
Until we see Coleman on screen again, I'm referring to her as Oswin or just the new companion.
Don't forget that any user can change imdb pages, I don't trust it until we get confirmation from a reliable source.
