I'm watching id dubbed right now on TV. It sounds like the earlier asian film dubs, funny, but I wouldn't have watched it if it were in German, beacause I (I don't mean any offense) just dont like German language, thought I've been studying it for years in school :D.

I agree. Don't watch this film dubbed. The voice actors didn't do a good job. Also, I read a review entitled, "Great Movie - But Best Viewed in English." The reviewer said the movie wasn't dubbed. The actors "
        reall did speak English
" (in the movie).. What the hell? Is there another version out there? I watched this movie both in English and German. The English version's clearly dubbed.. The reviewer was probably just high or something.
        Erm, I have a feeling I shouldn't care

Foreign films dubbed in German usually seem good to me, but American dubbing of foreign movies is
          ganz bld
          .

Well I had the misfortune to watch the film dubbed into English and with Bulgarian subtitles (since it was on a Bulgarian channel). But I agree with you about dubbing films.
All in all, the film was a surprisingly good way to pass 2 hours on a Friday night

You'll be glad to know, I watched this movie twice within about a three-year timespan only in German. No English dub. 🙂

I think if a movie is good enough, it doesn't matter if it's dubbed. For example, I liked High Tension even though the main character speaker had a French accent that really threw me for a loop the first twenty minutes. Plus, I know a lot of people that refuse to watch a movie with subtitles, because they want to watch, not spend two hours reading. I think the same thing applies, though. If the film is good enough, dubbing and subtitles are pretty much the last things on my mind.

I loved this film when I saw it at the cinema (German, Swedish subtitles) so I went and got the VHS when it came out (English, Swedish subtitles) and found it incredibly distracting to see German actors talk about "Munich" and "Haydelburgh" in an American accent instead of "Mnchen" and "Heidelberg". When I got the DVD, I was so relieved I could watch it in its original language with subtitles! And I still think it's a great movie even today!

Yeah. Dubs suck, especially the one in "Anatomie". I wouldn't reccomend watching ANY foreign movie with a dub. My dad was watching "Stalingrad" and the dubbing was ridiculous. The only dub I've seen that was pretty accurate was "Lola Rennt", but I didn't like it that much because it made the movie sound like it should be on Lifetime.
And the voices didn't fit Franka or Moritz.

Wow, I guess your country's talent is making generalizations and condescension? Really, why do you have to bring up anything about America here, it's just advising people not to watch the dubbed version because it's not a good dub. You don't know the reasons why everyone on earth who watches dubbed foreign films does sodon't assume you do.

You know, I wanted to see this movie so bad after finding it on On Demand and then reading about it here - so I watched the dubbed version tonight (Only because I didn't want to wait to netflix the subtitled version). It wasn't that bad of a dubbing job, people! That voice acting wasn't atrocious. I watch Dario Argento films so I have something truly awful to compare this to. The only time I laughed at the dubbing was in the beginning when Paula's grandfather was talking to her. Other than that, it was a bit easier to forget that they weren't really speaking German than I thought it would be. Fun movie. I can't wait to buy the German language version.

More likely, your country just sucks at making good dubs.

I, too, prefer watching a movie in the original langusge with subtitles. But I was unfortunately not given the choice. The cable channel showing it showed a dubbed copy. I still enjoyed it but kept wishing I could hear it in German.

I don't understand German and If I wanted to read I would get a book. I saw it in English and I enjoyed it. I don't understand the logic of watching a movie in a language you don't understand. Basically the people that are doing the dubbing are reading the subtitles for you and saving you the trouble of reading so you can focus your attention on the visual aspect of the movie. I have a hunch the people that insist in watching a movie in a foreign language are elitist snobs that want every to know that are better that the unwashed masses that prefer watch something they dont have to read
PS if you understand the language it would make sense to ant to see it in the language it was made in.

Well, dubbing is easy to get used to. You read the subtitles and understand added emotions, questions, uncertainty, etc. in the actors' tone. After watching a movie, looking back on it, it almost seems as if you remember them speaking English.
(From an American who, according to your generalization, should be too lazy to read.)
