    Yes
No, leave it there for the people that need it, like subtitles on games should be optional too cause of deaf players.
The thing I don't get is games like Ratchet & Clank where they have sub-categorized the axis between 1st and 3rd person viewpoint. Why exactly?

An inverted X axis makes me feel near fcking sea-sick.
I aways invert the Y though.

For flying aircrafts in games. Yes.
Inverted x axis serves no comfortable purpose. The inverted y axis is good because of how we view flying a plane. Even a child knows you pull back on the sticks to go up and forward to go down.

The whole thing of inversion kind of reminds me of a manual turret or anything that is on a pivot.

Yes, of course, but nose up and nose down work in the same way as nose left and nose right, except aircraft might have a differ a different control stick/wheel/dial for the "rudder" as it were.

To be fair you are right there is no reason to think inverting the Y axis makes sense where as inverting the X axis doesn't. But the inversion of the Y axis was established in early games and formed habits for many people, as far as I can tell the same can not be said about the X axis.
Although it is a fairly valid question as to why it was established that way. I think you are probably on the right track with the fact that the stick on a plane only controls pitch and roll and yaw isn't inverted on a plane I mean as to why moving someones head is considered to be the same as flying a plane then I've got no idea.

I like most of the people who have replied to this thread prefer inverted Y-axis, and back before the prevalence of network games and gamer accounts, I've had to share the controls and I was always the odd man out, so it became a chore to keep pausing and changing the gameplay settings every time it was my turn. What you've written reminded me of what some people used as a sort of criticism for my preference. I suppose, "real gamers" get used to using the controls configured any which way.

Oh yes I remember the pain of having to pause and swap and the inevitable grumble that came along with it from everyone. I played a lot of timesplitters with friends back in the day and this was always a problem.
They probably should have just removed the option early on and force everyone to adapt really. They managed to convert me from a crazy directional arrow heathen into a normal "WASD" person by doing this in a few old games to be honest.

                    Depends on the control.
                    KBM: No inversion.
                    Controller: Inverted.

Y-Axis Inverted is the only way to play, imo.
